How to Obtain an Export Registration Certificate (ERC) in Bangladesh

An Export Registration Certificate (ERC) is required for any business wishing to export domestically produced goods from Bangladesh. Issued under the Export Policy Order, the certificate allows exporting without restriction on value or quantity, making it essential for exporters of every size.

Application process

Collect the ERC form from the Chief Controller of Imports & Exports (CCI&E) and complete it with the supporting documents. Deposit the registration fee at Bangladesh Bank or Sonali Bank, retaining the Treasury Challan copies, then submit the full application to the CCI&E Dispatch Section.

A complete application is generally processed within four to five working days.

Fees and renewal

The government fee for an ERC is around BDT 5,000. The certificate must be renewed annually, for which you will need the original certificate, the passbook and a Treasury Challan. Renewals are also processed within roughly four to five working days.
