WPPF Fund Audit in Bangladesh

A Workers' Profit Participation Fund (WPPF) audit confirms that an organisation has established, funded and managed its profit-sharing arrangement in accordance with the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006. FM Consulting International verifies that the fund meets its statutory requirements at every stage — from creation and profit allocation through governance, investment and distribution to workers — supporting both legal compliance and the income tax benefits attached to WPPF.

Statutory requirements we verify

Our audit confirms that the fund is established within nine months of the end of the relevant accounting year and that five percent of the year's profit is paid into it within the same period. We validate the composition of the trustee board, which must combine worker-elected and management-appointed representatives, and confirm that 100 percent of the fund's annual earnings are distributed to workers in proportion to their unit holdings.

Investment, valuation and tax

We review the fund's investments in permitted securities and the interest credited to it — calculated at 2.5 percent over the bank rate, or 75 percent of the declared dividend, as applicable. We verify net asset value using market prices for listed securities and fair values for unlisted holdings. Under the Income Tax Ordinance, 1984, WPPF payments not exceeding Tk. 50,000 are excluded from a worker's total income, and we ensure the fund is administered accordingly.
